The Raid: Redemption

If you like martial arts movies with LOTS of action, then this is the movie for you. If you want a really good plot and don’t like blood...yeah, don’t see this one.

theraidPlot: Twenty, heavily armed police officers raid a twelve story building in an effort to catch and or kill the boss of an organized crime ring. All goes downhill when the crime group discovers the presence of the police officers. The boss makes an announcement that if anyone helps him kill attacking police, they will be able to live at the apartment for free forever. This leads to anyone with a gun, knife, or anything they can find all attacking the police. Most don’t do much damage as they are not trained and or do not have guns. However, some do, of course, and it leads to problems for the police.

Story: There is a small story involving some of the main characters, a small twist, but mostly this movie is an action flick, so watch it for that.

Best scenes: I would have to say I really liked the scene in which they converted a refrigerator into a bomb. I can’t say I’ve ever seen that in a movie before, but I hope I do again.
Also, the scene in which the main character fights with a billy club and a knife is pretty impressive and gruesome.

This movie is not for the faint of heart, it’s by no means the with the most disturbing gore scene I’d ever seen (which would either Drive or Event Horizon), but it definitely has a VERY high body count, probably the highest body count killed by hand to hand combat in a movie, or close to it.

Recap, if you’re a fan of martial arts movies and like the very well choreographed fight scenes and, like my buddy Travis says, appreciate the well shot, fast martial arts WITHOUT the Bourne shaky camera crap, then this is the movie for you.
